i was just wondering what people think about norinco,is it worth getting one as my first hand gun or do i wait for awhile and get something better?

You open yourself to an ignorant rant against Norinco.

Some are good, some not. 85 and 29 Models are very popular

I have bought a couple of them. Most are reliable and fun to shoot. But people seems to like the following most:
1911A1 and commander
NP29, 1911 style in 9mm
NZ85, CZ copies
Besides these models, you need to think twice.
The finish is rough, but very accurate.
 
Norinco 1911A1 from armco if your looking for a shooter. the finish is nothing spectacular, but the gun goes bang every time and is acurat enough. (for me anyway, i can hit a golf ball at 25m)
 
if you want a 9mm go for the sig-226 copy np-22. i have one and it has been a fantastic gun. make sure you change the grips tho....the plastic ones they come with suck.

Stay away from the SIG copies, they have been known to crack because the Chinese dont make the best aluminum. Stick to the steel chinese guns. They use some of the best steel.
 
i picked up a np17 for $200 so i obviously wasnt expecting much. fun to shoot but others who have tried my pistol have apparently noticed the poorer quality.

Starter Norc 9mm

Ok, I’ve read all the input on the Norc 9mm’s, but still can’t quite answer my question, sooooo….

I need a starter 9mm for my daughter (‘teens), smallish hands.

Norc NP17, or M77B (though dad wants the NP20, just for the sake of the ‘cool’ factor…), the only two Marstar has in stock currently…

Who can supply some feedback….?
 
Norc is alright, i have owned a few and shot most of the ones available. End of the day, you get alot of gun for hte money you pay. You cant expect a custom tuned gun but it shoots, and gets you into the sport a good cheap way to start.

1911 copys are great,
 
We have two of them in our Club in .22 & they seem decent for the price, but personally I would be more interested is something of better quality & proper sight that will allow elevation, windage & good front sight for target shooting.

Trying to hit the bull & forced to use the Kentucky method of sithting is a bit discourging to a beginner or someone interested in slowly building up to some decent groups.
 
I've got 1911, single stack government in .45 and love it. It needed a little smoothing at first but for the money you can't beat it for a first gun. I'm planning on getting a new 9mm soon and seriously looking at another norinco.

Nobody really does but that hardly makes it worth trashing the entire line. Besides, if they shoot who cares and after a cases of ammo the gun wil smooth out.

The 1911's are incredibly popular due to their price-point and the ability to upgrade them to suit the requirements of the user. The CZ clones are well regarded and I personally love their Tokarev
