norinco

Don't like the fit and finish on Norc's.

It's your right...and here's the "but". I personally prefer a gun that looks OK but that shoots well. Norinco(s) are a good guns FOR THE MONEY. I personally own a NP-40 which as you probably already know, is a copy of the CZ 75B. This firearm, shooting CAST 180 Gr. Flat Point bullets over 4.4 Grs. of W231 powder, can place 10 bullets inside the 10 ring of a standard 20 YD ISU centerfire rapid shooting target with sandbag rests. For your information, the 10 ring measures 2.750" Wide by 4.250" in Height. I'll grant you this is NOTHING compared to my Walther GSP in 32 S&W long which groups less than 0.500" at 25 Meters from a ransom rest (10 shots) using Lapua match cartridges. When using my load of a Lapua 98Gr. HB and 1.8 Grs of Bulleye, it will hold at 0.750" for 10 shots at the same distance with the same equipment. Our club has many members who shoot Glocks, HK'S, Sigs and others in that caliber. Many of the ones I've seen, can't place 10 shots inside the "9" ring - 5.750" W x 8.750" L. Probably the shooters aren't as proficent as some others..but I'll stack my "cheap" Norinco against any of them any day. Oh, and by the way, there isn't even a trigger job on it (yet) but it's breaking in nicely after approx 700 shots through it. Norincos are getting better, they'll never be up there like the "prestige or brand names" of the shooting industry, but, I can guarantee you that if they were allowed in the USA, they would be the choice of many for IPSC and other "action" type shooting.

I'm happy with my purchase and have to issues recommending my model to others. With the 500+ $'S saved, you can buy reloading equipment and shoot a lot more for the same money.

I'm also thinking of buying a norinco. I like the look of the Tokarevs. The biggest thing I want to know is if its going to jam up, fall apart, or blow up in my face. Are they reliable enough for someone who only gets out a few times a year?

I have lots of Norks. Enjoy them all - again, for what they are. The CZ clones are VERY good - I have the 85 and wouldn't trade it for anything. My 1911 (untuned) is by far my most accurate pistol. The Tok is what Gunnar (Armco) describes as a "real $150 gun" - tough as nails, tough trigger too. Great blaster for the money (esp. in 7.62x25). I put a small Hogue Handall over the annoying plastic grips and it fits well. Go ahead and start buying - you can always flog them later for what you paid, if you want to upgrade to the "real" CZ, SIG, Colts etc.
