anyone know what the difference in quality/shooting/accuracy is between the norinco 1911A1 and the commander is aside from being shorter?

Is it a good buy? I dont want to have it blow up on me, I already have one of those suspected KB guns

I've never heard about one blowing up, and if you just want a cheap gun to mess around with for a 100-200 or so bucks Norincos are you best bet.

jester1: the one of those suspected KB guns, would it by chance be a .40 GLOCK? The Glock is the only gun that has a Rabid following of people complaining about KB's. Other guns have problems, but only the glock has it's own website of KB's, sounds almost like a plot to make all the police forces go get their S&W's back. The Norinco 1911's in Government or Commander styles are inexpensive , solid built guns that will accept most of the aftermarket 1911 parts, if you wish to go that route.

My Nork commander is way more accurate than I am. Also they are made out of very tough steel. The Glock .40cal may kaboom with hot reloads using old brass. They also suffered an issue with the lights on the rails interfering with the flexing of the frame on the .40cal during recoil. Not sure if they have addressed this problem.

The biggest problem with the Norks 1911's are their sights. There is an Israel 1911 (all steel, not the Bul) that is a basically a Nork with aftermarket parts, nice looking guns.

yes that would be it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to get you all paranoid when I posted in the other thread about being surprised your gun didn't blow up. I was being sarcastic, trying to get people riled up :p

Enjoy your Glock 22, it is a very solid gun. The only known problems have been linked to hot reloads using tired brass. Any gun can have a failure under those circumstances.

What is the problem they have with the sights?

Anyone know the Israel 1911 that he speaks of?

I ordered mine from Armco a while back. It is one of my favorite pistols. You can't go wrong with one of these. Everyone says they are Norinco's but I am not sure about that. The ones Norinco lists on their website has grooves in the front of the slide, and mine has a bunch of Stars of David stamped on some of the inner parts (frame, barrel, slide).

You did get me a little rattled, to where I was scavanging the net. Man I found some pics I didnt like.

Thant looks nice.
Its the commander correct?
Whats listed as the manufac. on your reg?

I shot a norico a member had at my club but forgot to ask if it was the A1 or comm.
It shot extreamly accurate had my groups in a one inch square however we were very close, less than ten yards. I know he post here since hes the one who told me about the site, dont know his screen name or Id ask him.

He he, don't worry about your Glock, shoot the #### out of it and enjoy it.

As for my pistol, yes it is the Commander length, the manufacturer on my reg cert is listed as "IAI" for "Israel Arms Inc." or maybe it's "IAL" for "Israel Arms Limited"... It's one of the two. It is a very accurate and tight pistol, the steel is very solid. I absolutely love it. It's my 2nd favorite pistol (after my Kimber)

Yes that was the pistol I was talking about. Norinco sights are not as good as other sights, generally small, in fact they are a dead ringer for the GI issue sights. Aftermarkets sights are much nicer and larger so us guys with fuzzy older eyes can see them!!

I have owned both the full size "Government model" or the "Compact" Commander length model. They are both made well, but it seems like the Commander sized guns that have been shipped lately have cool upgrades such as a beavertail grip safety, extended thumb safety and so on. :)

Current Norincos...

Here's my new Norinco 1911A-1C ["Commander"]. I picked one of the last new ones from the last group to come into Canada from a local dealer who still had a couple. There are no more right now for the moment I believe. The upgrades over previous 1911A-1C models are the hammer, beavertail grip safety, three hole black tirgger, nicer finish. On this one, I added the aluminum trigger & double diamond hardwood stocks & hex grip screws myself.

Personally, I prefer to shoot the full size government models over the commander sized pistols. But I admit this Norinco compact fits my hand nice.

Here's my NP30. From reports on this forum I was expecting a rough trigger but I can't find fault with it, or with any other part of the gun for that matter. I'm very happy with it.
