I have come into a couple of boxes of Norma .308 diameter bullets in pointed soft point boat tail so, I tried doing some loads with it.

I'm putting it through my Rem 700 Sendero and I tried a load of IMR3031 at 41.gr with a COAL of 2.61". I guess I was expecting better out of them. The best I could get was 1.75" at 100 yards. No wind, 20 degrees, rifle rested and bagged......anybody have suggestions?
I've shot this rifle with BOX match ammo and turned .90" at 250 yards!!!

Looking forward to your thoughts and ideas.

Your rifle may not like that particular bullet powder combination. Try some different powders. With enough experimenting you'll soon run out of those bullets, probably just when you find the perfect combination.

Youre at the primary experimental stage of bullet development for accuracy in that rifle.
3031 is the go to powder I understand for the 308, but if its not working for you, then
move on to different powders, and o/a cartridge lengths.

Ive never shot a .90 inch group at 250 yards, so im already out of youre league for advice..

Incredible, isnt it? I've got the target and the spotter who ranged me that day with a box and a half of premium match grade ammo bought from a store 5 years before I owned the rifle that another fella I worked with gave me. Now that I'm loading for the first time I'd assumed it would be even better. Still, guys are getting 4 inch groups at 750 yards so I'm expecting great things and lots of experimentation ahead, hopefully before I shoot the barrel out of this thing. I bought the rifle from the spotter and added a new trigger and a Bushnell Tactical to it in 6-24 power. You guys are correct, I'm just at the beginning of this learning curve on loading and I'm willing to try any suggestions you may have.

I was going with the Speer manual when I chose that. If you think I can turn it up to 46gr then I will give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion. Have you used that one?

I just did some loads and the 46gr powder loadthat Ganderite suggested is 1 gr over the max load for 130 gr bullets according to the Speer manual. Anyone have any data in regards to exceeding that load?

Have you worked up in 0.5gr increments from the start load to test for accuracy with different powder charges yet? If not, don't worry about anything else until you've done that.
