NORMA POWDER

I haven’t seen any Norma powders available for awhile. I have been checking multiple sites out lately comparing powder prices and what’s available. Multiple powders are currently hard to get. Alliant is one of them. Try finding Unique or 2400.

Burn rate is only one variable when thinking powder though. If you look at every different burn rate chart they are all a bit different order. Very similar, but still different.

Some powders have a progressive burn rate as well. Which is why they may be slower but work well in cartridges they are "too slow" in. Because the burn rate increases as it burns.

Interior ballistic's are a fickle mistress.

Pick something similar burn rate, and that is is the manual, and you should quickly find a substitute. Most guys prefer the temperature insensitive powders, especially if they live, or hunt in places that vary quite a bit. Or get extremely hot.

The term temperature insensitive is a marketing term not a technical term. We have been involved with defence contracting where ammunition is conditioned to extreme temperatures and it's a fact that all powders are affected by temperature. Some more so and with top manufacturers the difference is slight.

Regards,

Peter

I have 2 tins of Norma MRP if anyone is interested in purchasing. One is sealed and the other was opened less than 1 year ago, with about 90 of a full can.
