umm not sure i have een that mark before so it does happen but seen alot of a new gun.
On another note, is that a brand new gun? I see that the bolt carrier is not cast?
Ive got 3 mossbergs i dont remember then carrier being cast.

A casting is a part made from metal poured into a mold, rather then machined from a soild block of steel.

What does this mean? It means nothing too you but saves money for Mossberg

I wonder if all the scratches are from small pieces of the black crap coming off and getting tossed around.

probaly just dirt or carbon bits, plus its on the inside so no one will see
