north eastern arm Ar15

I have watched with my own eyes the issues with the gen 1s. Every one says g2s are probably fine or should be ok.... those are not words that inspire confidence

I'll sell you a car and the seat belt should function properly.

Why spend your money on something that COULD have serious issues? When there are at least 5 other solid products at the same price point with proven track records.

At the end of the day it's your money and your body parts at risk if a catastrophic failure occurred.

I personally don't gamble with my money or health.

Ya I gotcha, I don't want to buy a headache.

Depends what you want the rifle for. General plinking at the range the nea rifle is fine.... However, you don't want these for competition... I've seen them fail in good competitors hands, costing them their entire match...

I've probably got the worst kind of NEA, Gen 1, 7.5". Not any kind of indicator but this year first quarter it has about 5k through it and 1 carbine course. No hiccup.

It does have an o-ring+spring extractor upgrade.

I've sent the whole rifle back to NEA once to replace the following:
Trigger group (tripping sear. Brrrrrrrrraapp)
Bolt lug shear
Corroded gas tube
Trigger group springs (light strikes, ftf).

That was November. Previous to that I was one of the few who got on at the ground floor and got this one on preorder. So growing pains for sure. At the time this was the only factory pdw affordable at the time. So it's at least 4 or 5 years worth of shooting through it before I sent it back for work.

Good bad? I dunno. Could be the pdw length shortens the lifespan of parts

I was wondering when some of the regulars would show up...

Save yourself the stress the Scapegoating will cause you and buy something else. The first two in Master-G's list would do the job. I can't speak directly to the Windham, but a S&W M&P Sport is a great Rifle for the money. If you did buy a Gen 2 NEA I think you'll be safe, regardless of claims to the contrary I could find no credible examples of injury due to a catastrophic failure. In fact I could only find one catastrophic failure, that was in South Africa, and the person reported that it was likely caused by ammo. I'm sure there's the odd example...from some of the big names too.

99.5% of all firearm issues are due to this. A good, bad or ugly AR will suffer from this carelessness and find it foolish posters continue to suggest about purchasing a particular brand then insist to stock up on inferior bulk ammo.

If money isn't a concern, spend it on a CC. I LOVE my IUR. A lot. It got me hooked on AR's and is a slick machine. My next will be a DD to see what all the fuss is about ( :HFU: ) but for my everyday, all around, don't care if it gets scratched and beaten NEA fills a void. Unless something else ridiculous happens with my current NEA, I'm going to stick to my plan.

If you're in the market for a budget friendly AR, have you considered a Norinco? *Flame Suit on*
