up to $1500
Oh you're so close to being able to get an entry level LMT, what a pity.

For that budget you can get a lot on the EE. Guy has a nice mk18 for sale around that range.

question:
windham weaponry or m&p sport
I was really happy with my M&P, but the WW seems to be pretty good too. Which one is cheaper?
M&p by 60$
My M&P was great, if they come equipped the same my vote would be for the M&P...unless the Windham had a better warranty, then I'd spent the extra $60.
I wouldn't let a gun's warranty sway my decision--I've owned dozens of firearms over my 30ish years of shooting and have never needed warranty service. Go for the rifle you feel is best.

WW it is.
Congrats for making a great choice, no doubt you will enjoy it.
If you have time, share a range report!
My first AR was a WW SRC 16"er, I still own it as it is a fine gun and I have set it up as my "outdoor" AR with a 6X on it. Plain Jane, works flawlessly. Side by side against my 2.5X more expensive AR and the differences are in the last 5% and honestly that could be cleaned up with a trigger group and a better muzzle brake.
WW is a great AR and I hope that you enjoy yours as much as the others here who have recommended the brand!
