North Woods Law-State of Maine

I think baiting is for lazy guys

I dont bait nor do I hunt much big game anymore but the guys I know that do bait put in a hell of a lot more work and $$ then the guys who dont. I bear hunted with a crew years back and they would pick up waste from bakeries every morning, store it. Drive 6 hours to the forest fringe, unload ATVs and drive 10 miles in the bush and bait their barrels. They also spend countless hours making shooting lanes, putting up tree stands or brushing in blinds. Quads would get stuck, trailers would roll ect....They did these every 4-5 days for a few weeks before they planned on sitting the stand then they would do it daily when they set up camp in the bush. I know guys that also have multiple bait stations for deer and spend 3 hours a day driving and baiting before archery opener. Lots sit every evening from Sept1-Nov and dont kill anything.

I'm not an advocate of baiting, I never needed it to kill game. I prefer to utilize my time, energy and money by practicing old fashion hunting skills. Nor do I use any electronic devices, calls, scents or camouflage while hunting big game, never needed it; however to each their own. BTW, my first big game animal was shot in the state of Maine.

In almost every episode I have watched, the officers pressure people into either consenting to search their homes, or they obtain confessions with no right to speak to a lawyer first. In Canada, all the evidence would be tossed in court and the trials would abruptly end. If every “suspect” just refused to talk to the officer, their investigations would hit a dead end. I am suspicious that the show may be a little contrived as it seems a bit too convenient that all the “suspects” seem to eventually confess. If they just said “I want to speak to a lawyer and leave my property” every time, the show would be pretty boring.

It's contrived BS. The camera is always in the perfect spot or angle. Confessions obtained so easily and undue drama no real fights with suspects, pretty uniforms. All cases solved in that episode. You have to be crazy to believe otherwise.
