This past weekend found Chad and I putting alot of miles behind us in search of a hunt for Tuesday morning(today). Alot of scouting produced a harvested barley field with 400+ geese using it and we began to assemble the gang in readiness for the assault on the resident goose population. With hopes running high we set up this morning. The hunt god's must have been smiling on us for when we arrived to set up the downpour of rain that had gone on all night ended just as we started setting up and we never saw rain again until we were in the restaurant after the hunt having breakfast.:) The first birds appeared shortly after daybreak and by 7:30 we were all smiles with 43 birds to our credit. We sure were smiling at that point, well beyond anything I had imagined would take place for us I have to say. Another hour or so produced two more flocks and we ended the morning with 54 out of the 60 that the 6 of us are allowed here during the early goose season( gotta love that 10 bird/hunter limit!!). Here are a few pics from this morning......

43 down and all smiles

I am still searching for a Goose field for this weekend, the warm weathe down here is ruining our chance for a few early season birds. Congrats on a good shoot, the dog deserves a good pat for his work.
