Well been a season I have focused on Elk and not able to close the deal yet. On Saturday evening I was elk hunting and no luck with the elk, however 10 min before legal this guy pops out on the field edge. As I lifted the binos up to take a peak at him I quickly realized he was a shooter. After what felt like minutes of messing with my bipod that wouldn't lock I was able to get a shot off and christen my new 25-06 with its first deer. As soon as I squeased the trigger you could hear the loud "smack". The deer took a couple steps and jumped the fence, he didn't look like he was going far so I backed out and couple hours later went in for the track.
When we finally found him this was my first view:

Had to call in a couple favors and my buddy Travis and Theirry had the pleasure of dragging this big bodied deer 200yards through nasty willow.
When we got to my to my buddies we snapped a couple pics:

After years of hunting I have gotten my biggest buck to date. He has 11 inch G3 and 9 - 9.5 G4s we scored him at 174.75 gross and he had 6.75 inches of deductions. Was pretty cool to have couple friends around to celebrate and made it that much more fun.
Thanks again Travis for helping with that nasty drag and caping it out!!
