Norwegian Krag Strong enough??

Is the Norwegian Krag action in 6.5x55(Swede) strong enough for " Moose" loads? I know many 6.5 Swedish rifles are used in both Europe and Canada for large game but curious about the Krag. I had an American 98 krag in 30-40 and shot a few deer and it killed them well. Is the Norwegian OK?? JITC:confused:
 
P.O. Ackley tested (blew up) a lot of actions and did not consider the Krag to be a very strong action, i wouldn't use anything above 44k CUP. I should add that i would have any Krag tested for cracks in locking lug before proceeding.
 
The Norwegian Krag is quite a bit stronger than the American Krag. The Norwegian has a slightly different receiver-bolt design that employs another locking surface.

"Standard" (published) 6.5x55 loads are fine in one. I can't imagine a Moose that wouldn't fall to a well-placed 140gr bullet at 2700 fps or a 160gr at 2500 fps.

In the book "Bolt Action Rifles book" The final paragraph stated

"Like the other Krags, the Danish action should not be used with cartridges which develop much over 45,000 psi breech pressure. It has the best safety of all the Krags".

Actually Ackley was surprised at the strength of the action and even chambered it for the 219 improved zipper which created much more pressure than the krag was rated for with no signs of over pressuring the action
however he does go on to say that he has no reason to disbelieve the stated pressure rating
He tested the US krag which had an inferior lock up to the Norwegian which as Andy stated had the back locking lug mating with the steel at the rear of the receiver were the US krag has a 3-5 thou gap
