What is the apporimate value of a Norwegian Nazi marked Mauser K98 in 30-06.

This rifle appears to have Nazi proofed barrel stampings, and special sight posts that are further back on the gun's receiver...(adjustable peep sight)...that and it is incredibly heavy and bulky for a K98.

I don't have the rifle in front of me and the last time I saw it was at a old friend's place where he showed it to me so long ago...it is he that wants to know what it's possible value is. I will try and get pics if possible but dont count on it just yet(he lives out of town)

Any idea on a potential value? The rifle is in pristine condition with an extremely shiny bore.

I would even settle for some good information on the Norwegian Mauser history of WW2

That sounds like a really cool rifle. Are the ones JP sells nazi marked.
30-06 is a great cartridge for a milsurp because there are still a lot of people who hunt and reload it.

No, the Norwegian army in WW2 was sided with the Axis after germany invaded and assimilated Norway eraly in the war. Many Norwegians fought in the Wehrmach and SS, and the country was supplied militarily by Nazi industry, including small arms.

After the war ended, Norway had many tens of thousands of K98k's in inventory and was sided with the west as the cold war started heating up.

In order to take advantage of US military aid, many of their mausers which were in stockpile were rebarelled to .30-06.

Those guns will have new barrels, but everything else on the rifles will be WW2 era German K98k. Aside from the new barrel, the sights were reworked for the changed ballistics and a flat was machined on the receiver ring and new Norwegian markings applied for inventory purposes.

They are a nice and somewhat uncommon Mauser variant IMHO. I wouldn't mind having one, just not willing to pay the current $700 ask at retail.
