Nosler 125 gr 30 cal ballistic tips . . . Hunting

I have used Ballistic Tips since their introduction and have (conservatively) killed around 25 deer with them. I used 130 gr bullets out of the 270 Winchester from as close as 30 yards to about 260. The majority of these were one shot kills showing entrance and exit wounds on broadside lung shots. That's what BT were designed for.
I used the 125 gr .30 caliber out of a .300 Sav Mod 99 with a 1-12" twist and they were very accurate. I've taken one deer with that load resulting in a spine hit and he hit the ground dead, not a twitch.
However if you choose to shoot deer in the shoulders you are going to have some meat damage.

Any where from 20 to 400 yds. I would suspect my rifle and loads killed well over 30 deer. These were shot at a MV of around 3000 fps.

I would have thought there would be lots of meat damage even with behind the shoulder shots at close range, although I'm basing my experience on a blown up coyote and 2 old style 140gr BT's from a 7RM that blew up on a mulie shoulder at close range.
