I've been trying to find if there is a minimum reccomend twist rate for the Nosler 70gr .224 RDF bullet.
I want to try them out, but I'm not sure if my rifle (Vanguard S2 22" HB 1:9) will stabilize them. It shoots Hornady 75gr HPBT Match well, so I'm hopeful.
I read what I could find and sent Nosler an email, but no response. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

If it shoots the heavier bullets good the lighter ones should be fine. Nosler load data for the 22 Nosler and the RDF shows the test barrel for that as a 1 in 8. What is yours?

I shoot these in my 9t with no problems. Havent tried them at sea level in -30 though. :D

In fact even though this bullet is not a hunting bullet. Its holds the record for my longest kill with a 9twist. heh

Should be fine but the only way to know for sure is to test them.
They should shoot well at 100 yards but the real test will be when you try to print a group at 300 yards or more. At 100 yards the bullet weight and twist rate make very little difference. It's not till you start to stretch out the distance that the twist rate, weight of projectile, and BC of the projectile start to make a difference.
People always say they get better accuracy from heavier projectiles but that's usually got more to do with heavier projectiles being loaded into higher quality factory ammo. Ever seen a match grade 55gr factory ammo? It's always 62 grain or heavier (usually 75gr) if it says MATCH on the box.
As a handloader you should be able to load anything from a 30 grain through a 90 grain and make it shoot well.

This is from my 223 rem 700 at 100 yards with a 36gr Varmint Grenade, they can all shoot little groups with a good barrel and some load development. I wouldn't try this load at 500 yards though, that little bullet would probably be tumbling by that distance.

Nice group. I've never tried a bullet that light.
I've decided to try the 70gr RDF's. I'll report back once I try a couple of loads.
Thanks to all who contributed.

Got an answer from Nosler.
The 140 is in reference to the 6.5mm 140gr RDF.

The 70gr. RDF will need a 1:9” twist

The 140 RDF will need a 1:8” twist

Thank you
