I have been shooting 180gr partition in my 300 win mag for 19 years. Never once had a complaint, and have been bench shooting sub .5 MOA with them. I have experimented in years past with Ballistic Tips, and was un-impressed.
That being said, I am always open to change and something new, so I wanted to get your opinions on the Accubond. I have had a few people swear by them. They are $10 a box cheaper. B.C. is better. And I bought a box of 200's to play with. I intend to use a heavier bullet fin the Accubond to make use of the better B.C.

Intended purpose is Moose hunting primary, with Deer as secondary. Range from 0-500 and in all conditions. I intend to reload IMR4831 or IMR4350 in the max range to exceed 3000fps, zero'd at 300.

So what is your opinions?

I'd like to give you some better information than what I have, but I've never recovered an Accubomb from anything I've ever shot. Several moose and even more deer. For me, they are very accurate, and perform well. These were 180's as well. RL22 is a great choice for powder, and you can fill up a case until fear or sense holds you back. Well over 3000 fps can be had with no pucker factor.

any idea what your max sensible load is with the RL22? I am thinking 80 grains should get you up around 3100-3200fps?

I doubt you will hit 3000 fps with the 200 accubond in a 300wm. I have used both the partition and accubond, mainly in the 7mm mag and 25-06 and have been favorably impressed with both, the accubomb seeming to cause more destruction but it still penetrates great.

due to pressure? or case capacity?

A quick and dirty calculation shows I might not be able to get more then 78 grains before compressing...
This could be a prob.... Plus pressure of course.

Curious is anyone has some reload data with some hot loads in the Accubond

80 Grains is aways up there. I'm running 77 grains for 3150-3200. Seat your bullets out as far as mag constriants/throating allow. As I mentioned, these are for 180's. IMO, at the distances you are talking about, this is the better choice than the 200. If you're hell bent on the 200, 73 to 74 Grains should get you to the 3000 fps you are looking for. Again, seat as far out as possible. These loads are all over book loads, and work in my rifles. Work up you own loads carefully. Bam bam, Nosler lists a RL 22 load for a 200 grain Accubomb at just under 3000 fps, so it is easily possible, depending on your rilfe, etc.

You will get to 3100 plus / minus a bit in a 24 inch 300 win with the 180 grains but not the 200s.
RL22 is one of the best in my view. Stable, accurate and fills the case.

I have always liked 180 gr Ballistic Tips for most any thin skinned game from my 300 weatherby at 3200. But for the heavier animals, Accubond has my vote now.

Really - I think the Accubond will eventually phase out the Ballistic tip as it serves the same purpose. Good BC and great for the far shots.

I've loaded three .300 WM's with RL22, and 200 grain Nosler Accubonds, and all have been just over 3000 fps? Do you guys all live below sea level? :)

Tougher

The only thing the literature will tell you is that the Partition is built as a tougher bullet, meant for heavier game. That being said, Accubonds have been used successfully on large game with good results. I think the only place you may actually notice the difference is at close range where an Accubond may not hold up as well as a Partition in a high velocity cartridge.

Anyone here have experience with close range shots at high velocity with the Accubonds?

- Both are designed to retain 60% of their original bullet weight.

- Accubonds have a higher BC and are bonded so due to the manufacturing process using heat will expand more readily than standard core bullets.

- Partitions are just that they have a partition across the middle to separate the non-bonded front which can separate from the bullet the rear portion will never separate.

I shoot both when I am loading for long range 300 yards + I go with the far higher BC Accubonds.

Yes,

I've shot a moose at just under 100 yards with the .30 cal 200gn NAB:
MV was 3145
3 shots, all exited - 2 through the heart - lungs, one through the shoulders.
No signs of over expansion / breakup.

Earlier I was using the .30 cal 165 NAB:
MV was 3565
I shot 2 deer, both at just under 100 yards, both shots exited with no signs of over expansion / breakup.

I shot a moose at 30 yards, 3 shots if I recall correctly (I keep shooting until they're down. This moose and the one mentioned above were dead on the first shot but still up). All exited but one bullet. It was found under the hide after having penetrated both sets of shoulder bones.

Here's that bullet:

The impact velocity of that bullet would have been around 3496fps. I don't know what more you could ask of a bullet.

The NAB is every bit as tough as the Partition and offers the high BC and accuracy potential of the Ballistic Tip.

I highly recommend it for higher velocity cartridges. (This was a 300 RUM).

.

Both are good bullets, but the 200Accubond would be my bullet of choice.

I get best accuracy at just over 2900 with RL-22.
For an accuracy point of reference...At 350 yards all of my shots would have hit an orange and most would have hit an egg. My buddies 300Win shows similar promise and he can't shoot that well (yet).

What can I say....Sorrensen knows what he is doing. ;) :D

I will try H-1000, H-4831, RL-25 and perhaps even Retumbo this year with this bullet, but I believe RL-22 will be difficult to beat.

I am not sure about tougher - but they are definitely different designs. I load 225 grain accubonds in my .338 ultra mag at over 3100 fps. I have shot a number of elk and moose with them and have never recovered a bullet as all have penetrated through and through. They are a bonded bullet and have proven to me that they are very, very tough. I love their accuracy too.

I have only shot animals with the 140gr AB in the .270 WCF. Great bullet that penetrates well and made over three feet of penetration through a Blackie, having smashed through the neck and spine twice. That was a 400lb bear (TangoKilo shot it with my gun).
I loaded RL19, H4831, and H4350 behind 200gr Partitions in my old 300 Win Mag. I got to about 2925fps with all of them and the signs where showing. That was a 24" barrel, so if you have a 26" with a little smoother looser barrel, 3000fps is a possibility. I don't think a moose or anything else will give a hoot, nor will you drop chart suffer from 50fps. Heck most peoples handloads deviate that muc:.
