Nosler ammo question.

I purchased a box in 30-06 last year (165 NAB) just for the brass basically. I noticed the same thing, never gave it much thought though. Took two moose with them in 2014, and a WT and a wolf in 2015. Very consistent and accurate for factory ammo. I wonder if the B denotes a benchrest primer....
 
I figured it had something to do with a brand or something. Was just curious, never seen it before.

I've been playing around at the range a little with different ammo...not really sure why lol... The cheap federals shoot just fine. I tried federal vital-shok with 180 grain nosler partitions the other day... I didn't see where they grouped any better than the cheap stuff. I am going to try out the nosler trophy grade ballistic tips, and I have some trophy grades with accubonds on the way. If I like them, I'm gonna get another custom dial for the vx-3

Yes cheap stuff kills just as good, 90% of the time. The one good thing about premium ammo is the usually premium projectile. Dont know if anyone has been paying attention but premium projectile in say 30 cal is now over $1/....something like $58/50 for 180 nosler partitions. So for your $60 box of premium, $22 is now the cost of the projectile. Cheap stuff is fine for plinking, when you go on a expensive (two weeks holiday and $$$) i like the good stuff, usually my own taylor made loads for the rifle.
 
I have been reading up on reloading. I'm just kind of on the fence about depending the money to get into it. It is the kind of thing that I know I would really enjoy doing. I just don't know if I would ever shoot enough to justify buying into it.

If all you shoot is a box of rifle ammo per year for hunting, don't bother. If you get into competitive shooting like IPSC, reloading will keep you out of the poor house.
 
Well... I shoot more than most around here. I probably shoot at least 80-100 rounds a year from the 308, and usually shoot a couple boxes with a 30-06. But that's only because I buy ammo by the box. I would likely go shooting much more if I reload. I don't know... I think it would be worth it, but just can't take the plunge lol. I can buy another decent rifle with the same money lol
