Anyone give these a go yet? What did you think of them? Using in a 300wsm 180gr. Just a range bullet or are they good for hunting as well? Any input would be appreciated.
Cheers

180gr .308 dia bullet's weight is represented as 60% guilding metal jacket and 40% lead core. Even if the lead core complete seperates upon hitting, say, a shoulder, you'd still have 60% weight retention in the jacket and good expansion. A very good deer bullet.

I prefer the accubond for anything larger.

personally i wouldnt use a Nosler ballistic silvertip, id prefer a standard SP myself..
from my experience just too fragile off a pill for game bigger than deer, in the case you hit a shoulder.. which is where i aim, but thats just me

Put a 200 gr through a moose at close range with my 338 Win Mag. went through a lot of meat but no bone. It stopped in the hide on the other side. It was just under 120 gr or 60% retention. I would not trust it if you hit the shoulder with a smaller caliber. I also put a shot through the rib cage and did not hit so much as a rib on either side, but it expanded immediately so that the entrance wound and exit looked identical. Also high BC for those long shots.

If you are looking at using that type of bullet then go with the Combined Technology-Ballistic Silvertip. Very good shooting, extremely hard hitting and good weight retention. I have NEVER lost an animal shooting that bullet. It's all I use now in my 30-06, 300 win mag and .223. It is nice to be confident in what you have loaded when out in the field. My opinion of course.
