What is the main difference between these two bullets. Specifically in terms of their terminal performance.

Thanks

As the others have noted they are the same bullet but the black one looks cooler especially when loaded in a nickle-plated case..... ;)

As odd as it may sound to some, the ballistic silvertips shoot far tighter groups in my Husqvarna 7mm mag than ballistic tips. This loaded over 62gr 4831 in 140gr offering. I suppose it could be from the Lubalox. Dont know why there would e a difference otherwise. I have had great performance with these bullets. They shoot so dang tight groups that I use tem for everything. This year I used them on a caribou hunt, my whitetail and moose. All 1 shot kills. I reovered all 3 bullets as I shot the bull/buck through the neck and the bullets were up against opposite side hide. Im sorry im not technologically savvy enough to post pics of the bullets. 2 of the 3 bullets had shed all the core of lead with just the copper cup remaining, but they did pass through the spine of the animal at slightly over 200 yards. I was fairly impressed how well the one bullet held up through my bull mooses hump and spinal cord. Sorry to ramble, im just really impressed at how well a non-berger or TSX bullet performed! Haha

I've found the Ballistic Silvertips to have a thinner jacket than the Silvertip, I could be wrong but I believe that they are constructed that way to ensure rapid expansion. The ballistic silvertips are winchester bullets manufactured for them by Nosler I believe to their specs. The BST is a very accurate bullet and in my 325 WSM tend to almost vaporize in comparison to Nosler's Silvertip which seems to hold together a lot better.

I too found them incredibly accurate; not so impressed with terminal performance, I shot a whitetail doe at 30 yds with my 270 WSM, clipped the front shoulder blade and hit a rib. Shrapnel holes in the offside...yes the deer died very fast but the amount of blood shot meat was astounding. There was meat lose from the base of the skull to the end of the rib cage. My load would have theoretically been going 3050 FPS at impact, Nosler lists max speed at 3200 FPS so that was not the issue. I am very leery of trying them on a larger animal due to not seeming sturdy enough and who wants to lose that much meat on a whitetail...I had 43 lbs of deboned meat so the doe was not "small"

dtkb seems to have had good results and I love the accuracy, maybe only use for longer range shots...

if the opportunity arises again try the neck or head shot.i use ballistic tipped in my 308 and they
just drop like a stone when shot neck/head.
take a heart lung shot and there always is a fair amount of aftermath damage.
good on coyotee .......just plainly wrecks them
