Bought a few boxes of Nosler trophy grade ammo for my .300 wsm to try out. I will be getting into reloading and I would like to use all of the same type of brass. Has anyone reloaded with the nosler custom brass? Is it any good or does it crack/develope flaws easier than other brands?

I have used Nosler custom brass on a few ocassions, found the brass to be of match quality regarding weight and neck thickness. The only real drawbacks to the brass are expense and the brass is too soft {expanded primer pockets} when your bordering on maximum pressure loads.

So your high pressure load brass has to be thrown out? Other than that, good results?

I too have experienced the streched primer pockets with the nosler brass and no it wasen't even close to a hot load. The brass was very uniform and I really liked it untill I started having primer pocket issues after 3x fired. For me it was too expensive to have to discard after 3 firings. I now run either winchester brass (necked turned, primer pockets uniformed) or lapua.

I used it in 338 edge a.i. I have switched back to sorting and preping rem brass the nosler stuff is just to soft. You will loose the primer pocket before you reach the potential of your cartridge. thanks

My experience is the same as others with loose primer pockets developing before reaching the listed max loads from the manual. This kind of hurts when you have loaded 50 rnds under max and don't discover the problem until you go to reload as there are no pressure signs. In my case, 50 pcs of 260 Rem brass..once fired...now worth only the weight of the brass.

When their brass first appeared, there was a warning from Nosler to reduce loads by a couple of grs because the capacity was less than competitor's brass, a situation that is familier to those of us who have reloaded military brass. Those who have complained about loose primer pocksts should measure their head expansioin to see if they were getting into dangerous territory, and a warning that when components are changed that loads should be reassesed.

Hey boomer thanks for the heads up on reloading , I do not have the info handy right now but at the time I checked the h20 capacity that is part of how I sort my cases and you are correct it is less then the average rem. But we also fire our loads over my chronograph ced 2 which is why I stated that before you can reach the potential of your cartridge WE lost the primer pockets in a few loadings. This was with 2 different guns. all you can do is try them if they work thats great if they do not you are not out alot of money thanks
