nosler & hornady vs Lapua brass ?

Anyone ever use the Hornady and nosler brass that comes in the nice boxs ?


Lapua brass is kinda hard to get a hold of and im wondering if the stuff in the boxes is more higher quality than the bags of winchester and remington.

I've used a fair amount of the Nosler Custom for my 7mm STW, .308 win etc. It's good brass but not as consistent as a lot of Lapua. I'm currently at 3-4 reloads on the Nosler with little to no wear showing. I wouldn't be afraid to buy more after I wear these out..

Lapua is better, and worth the effort to get it. Cases can last 40+ reloadings if treated properly, making the cost of brass a small factor in the total picture.

I have used Hornady brass in 204, and in 375 Ruger. I am not impressed. In the 204, 156 cases had a weight variation of over 13 grains. Winchester in 204 is within 2 grains in a 100 cases. In the 375, if anyone else made brass I would buy it instead.

Never used any serious amount of Norma. Lapua can be grat brass, but I have had a few batches that were no screaming hell and actually took a couple of lots back. Here in Alberta it is 3 to 4 times the price of Wincheter. In a competition gun, makes sense. Even in a big game rifle where I wouldn't do that much shooting, I could see using it. In my varmint guns where I want to load up 2 or 3000 rounds each before gopher season I'll stick to WW and Rem.

I wasn't happy discovering that the 223rem Hornady brass that I tried varied by 4 grains, let alone 13 grains.The Lapua brass that I now use varies by less than .5 grains.
