Nosler Long Range Accubond

Good post. For me, my reloads with Accubonds in 3 of my calibers, I dont know if i will switch to the LR's....I have too many boxes on hand in .277/.30/.338

Maybe once the supply is gone, which would mean i would need to get the range more often and find time to reload.:runaway:

The ballistics look pretty darn good, but I got to say, Ive always wondered with boat tails, if their narrow profile at the arse end of them lessens the ability for the expanding gasses to push them out, i.e. pounds per square inch on a flat surface vs. a pointed one. Not that boat tails are a new thing, but Im curious if anyone has chrono'd say partitions vs. a boat tail of the same weight out the barrel and found better initial speed with a partition.

Hijack over.

Cody....makes no difference whatsoever. We shot bullets that we swapped ends and seated spitzer nose into the case and flat base facing out.
Not only did they shoot amazingly well, but the chronographed difference was not any more than normal variation.
I'm looking forward to shooting this new Accubond in a couple of my long range rigs.

These will sell like hotcakes. Main problem is that a 210 grain .30 cal is as big as they get from what I can find. To make them serious for really big stuff, some .338 medicine will have to come about. A 250+ grain for the Lapua and/or the .338 RUM would fit the bill.

They probably wanted to try it out on the peasants first and get it perfected before they make a .375 LR NAB to present it to the new KING!

They'll have to make a 350 grain .375 for the True King. The True King wouldn't let a Ruger or H&H carry his primers. Long live the king.:D

You can't have "TRUE KING", that one is mine and applies only to the 375 of Holland & Holland design. You want another candidate in the race for the throne of the 3/8" bores you have to come up with your own moniker!!! LOL

I'd forgotten about that. Is the .375 SIRU taken? (Supreme Incontestable Ruler of the Universe) All kings are dead; Long live the great SIRU.

*****I do like to keep a couple H&Hs around for mundane tasks though.

These look like a good step forward to me.

I would definitely second a 350 grain, high BC, .375 bullet.

A while ago, I ran the numbers on the Sierra 350 grain Matchking with a maximum .375 RUM load, and that thing carries monstrous energy way out there. I pure hunting bullet with a similar (...or better?...) BC would be just great.

The high "advertised" BC of the .277 cal long range bullet would bring life to a otherwise stagnant diameter!
I like the .277, dont get me wrong! If my 270win will shoot this bullet well, I would be grinning from ear to ear!

Now, they just need to make a 130-135 grain .257 caliber long range Accubond!

With the introduction of 6.8SPC and 270 WSM, 27 caliber cartridges are on a roll and offer an outstanding range of bullets weight!
We're talking about 100gr, 110gr, 130gr, 140gr and now a 150gr Nosler Accubond all 0.277"!
And Barnes TSX in 85gr, 95gr, 110gr, 130gr, 140gr and 150gr!

That being said 7mm cartridge, do offer better long range big game bullets but the gap is almost closed.
(This is because 27 cal rifles have a 1-10" barrel twist while 7mm rifles have a 1-9" barrel twist)

And, don't forget the readily available 160 gr Nosler Partition, which is a great big game bullet, and has a higher BC than the 150 gr.

Ted

Hi ted, in my post I was tying to say that there was no comparablly high BC bullets in .277 as compared to the likes of 6.5,.284,308.

This 150 grain long range Accubond will have a higher BC than the 160grain Nosler partition by far! I am excited to try them!

If any of you guys get the chance before I do, post your results on this or another thread! I want to push my 270Win to 1000 & beyond. With a higher BC like this My scope will be able to adjust further without hold over.

Funnn stuff!
