My first round of reloads for the 30-06 is with GameKings, on the adivce of catnthehatt.

I've only had them out once, but got around a 1" group at 100. I'll try again tomorrow from my varmint rest to see if I can do better.

Anyway, who has experience with the Nosler Solid Base and the GameKing?

I'm just wondering how the 2 compare accuracy wise, and on game.

Both good, I dumped a deer with 165 gameking @200 meters, split the heart in 2 equal halves, never done that before. What a trail that deer left 4 ft wide for 30 ft. No damage on entry, and little on exit, lungs were jelly also.

I use 215 gr GKs in my .338 Lapua and also in 140s in my .264 Win Mag and they are great. They are very accurate in both of these rifle but I get around 3/4" - 1" groups at 300 meters with the338. As for hunting performance they work very well on deer and moose, I've killed around a dozen animals over the last few years with this bullet and they are very effective.

They are accurate and good killers of game, they tend to come apart at short range but have always killed everything they were aimed at with one shot!

If by solid base you mean Ballistic Tip they are very accurate also. Have used both to kill deer and killed moose with the Sierra, no complaints with either bullet. I would try both and see what your rifle likes. Did shoot a doe at about 100 yards with a 150 gr Nosler BT out of an 06 and had allot of meat damage if you are going this route I would stick with the 180.

Ive shot 25 cal 100 gr. Sierra GameKings in a 25-284 Win, and they shot .5" @ 100 yards on paper. Never hunted with them though.

I also have shot 6.5mm 140 gr. GameKings in my 260 Remingtons. Good accuracy and I used this bullet to take a mulie at 250 yards. Bullet performance wasnt great, although the buck was killed quickly. 30% weight retention. Muzzle velocity was only 2600 fps.

I used to load the 165 and 180 solid base bullets for my .30-06 a number of years ago before they stopped making them. They were accurate out of my rifle and their performance was good on deer and antelope. Never shot anything bigger with them though. I haven't tried the new solid base bullets yet, but they should work good for most hunting applications.
