Anyone trying the new Nosler bullets on gophers yet? I loaded some 32gr HPs in 204 yesterday and shot a few groups with them this evening. The first shot would open about a .75" hole in the target and the next 3 or 4 rounds would all go into that hole. When I walked up to the target the paper was torn and blown back from the plywood backstop but the holes in the plywood were all perfectly round. I'm thinking they might be a great choice for vapourizing gophers but it is still too cold here for them to be running around as it has snowed and rained the last couple of weekends. Just wondering if anyone has shot any gophers with them how they preformed before I load up a couple 100.
 
Hornady V-max with the ballistic tip in 55gr. Not quite vaporization, but it does the trick. This was also in a 22-250.

Yep. Big fan of 50gr vmax in my 223. Nosler ballistic tips worked good too. Havnt tried these new ones yet. Not too sure what the difference would ve from the nosler ballistic tip.. .Marketing maybe??
 
Haven't tried mine yet in 223, but soon. I also have 500 rnds of 50gr zmax on the way sometime soon I hope to try out and see if they match my vmax load.

I don't know if they are made any different, besides being able to get them in a hollow point but they are alot cheaper to buy right now than a BT. I paid around $15 for a box of 100 and WSS lists 32gr NBTs for $27.99.
I too have blown alot of gophers apart with VMaxs in both 20 and 22 cal but these bullets just seem to tear the target like I've never noticed before.
 
I don't think they are a whole bunch different from the other poly tipped varmints except for price. Usually the Nosler BT are thicker jacketed then the Vmax but I suspect that these are thinner jackets. It would be nice to find a low cost alternative to the BT and VMax. They are getting too expensive. I found some ZMax at P&D for what I thought was cheap at $.16 a round and the Vmax are usually around $.22 so I bought 3000. When looking at loading 2-4K for gophers you need to find the most accurate bullet for the cheapest price. Hopefully these will work.

Yep for a year. I have about 2k loaded currently and waiting for the weather to warm up a bit. When there is 4-6 targets on a mound and there is hundreds of mounds in one area, 3-600 shot days are the norm. I usually gor for about 3/4 day trips. I have to travel a minimum of an 8 hour drive to get into some decent shooting.
