Nosler Vs Hornady - Let the arguement begin!

I think Hornady make an excellent, accurate bullet that works well at velocities under 3000 FPS. If you chase them hard, they will disintegrate. I have personally experienced it with my 270 on a Whitetail deer. For me, Nosler Partitions & Accubonds are the ticket at higher velocities. Regards, Eagleye.

I find myself agreeing alot with Eagleye, cuz he makes a lot of sense.

Never use Hornady SP to hunt.

I'd disagree with that. I've taken two deer (first ones with re-loads), 303 brit 150 g SP.

Both deer dropped like a rock.

Anyhow, I'm not an F class shooter, just a milsurp guy with irons.

I'm not convinced to run out and buy a box of Nosler but I might try them out someday. :)

A box (100 bullets) of hornady interbonds are 55-60$ (.308 180gr), compare that to a box of accubonds at 30$ for 50 bullets.... seems like they are almost the same price nowadays.

Maybe you should switch to the SST they are only $31.00 for a 100

An SST is an interlock with a polymer tip. I wouldn't say its the same as a bonded bullet, ie. accubond, interbond. The price tag isn't and shouldn't be the same neither.

apples to apples.... oranges to oranges.;)

This past season, my first kill for my .444 Marlin was a bull elk. I nailed it with a 265gr. Hornady SP. It dropped, flipped and pointed 4 feet skyward. When I retrieved the bullet, I questioned why the core had separated from the cup and nearly got myself into a terminal ballistic debate. Then I reminded myself that there really was no need for further discussion. :)

I used to use Nos.Part.but found they didn't open up that good on deer sized game. The exit hole wasn't much bigger than entry which i guess saves meat but no great wound channel either.Anyway there a good bullet for larger game but these days i've been using Speer grand slams on deer with good results.:sniper:

I find it odd that a 5/16 bolt can be machined from stock and sold for about 8¢, but to stamp a bullet from a peice of copper alloy stock costs $1.00.

Must be the fancy plastic box the bullets come in.....

I could not have said it better.

2 most accurate bullets in my old 06 were 180gr Interbonds and Speer Grand slams. I dropped the 'slams because they wasted a bit more meat.

For the minimal difference, I'm Hornady SST all the way. Spend a lot of time at the range and want to practice with the same bullet I'm going to hunt with. The SST Does everything I want it to.

I have only hunted with the Interlock then the SST. All the game have dropped dead with good sized exit wounds. I don't launch fast and have no issues with penetration and expansion.

The Nosler BT is a simple cup/core bullet too. It shares many of the issues of high speed impact as the Hornady bullets. They redesigned them a few years back to make them much tougher. Similar to the internal shape of the Swift.

They are much tougher then they used to but not a great high impact bullet either.

The Interbond and Accubond are essentially the same as the SST/BT except for the core bonding. Not made any stronger for the most part. Just the jacket will have a smear of lead on it if the bullet blows up.

The Amax bullets are superbly accurate and offer some of the best value in the match bullet world. The 75gr/80gr 22cal, 162gr 7mm, 155gr - 208gr 30cal are some of the best in their cals. BC much higher then their HP competitors like the MK's.

Good stuff.

Never used anything but interlock on deer w/.243 & 30-06. Dead deer @ 50-350yd. Only had to shoot one deer twice & it was my fault for not letting it get clear for a better first shot. Haven't used anything else but "if ain't broke, don't fix it".
Just my humble opinion.

I agree! They do not waste meat! Anyways, shooting deer with nosler partition (I used 160gr) is like using bow and arrow I guess. In my case they ran at least 50 m, dropped and died by bleeding out internally. You have to place your shot carefully! I move this season to a lighter bullet (Interbond 139gr) which hopefully drops deer in the tracks. Saving meat in one concern, but an instant kill is more important to me.
