Found this from a link in Bruce's obituary thread. Remember some of the places and even people.

Jack o clubs hotel in Wells, Lucky Swede.

Man named Smokey out Swift river. Lived with two other old timers, Mike?... each had a shack. Partly supported himself by making Potatoe mash moonshine. So over proof Vodka. Anyone been Hyderized? Whiskey jacks would wait for the mash to be thrown out, falling over drunk into the snow bank, too drunk to fly.

Covered in mud and sluice splash. Picking nuggets with tweezers before starting again after coffee.

amazing pictures. I dont have much if anything to rely on from my previous generations, but remember that we will soon be the old folks in these pictures to and to document the hunts.

My biggest hurdle is taking proof we went hunting, aside from empty tag books.

best of luck gents

There's some great shots here guys, I'm really enjoying looking through them.

Maybe we should be bringing back the jaunty cap:)

View attachment 662072 This is a photo of my great grandfather taken in Denmark. Im not sure of the date but my father was born in 1935 so its definately mid 1800s. Pretty cool. My father told me he was crazier than me about firearms. Wish I had the double barrel slung over his shoulder!!

I grew up on a farm back in the ‘Ozarks’ of Manitoba just 2 miles away from the corner of the Duck Mountains. At one time or another every farm had a wild pet, skunks, one had a pet porcupine, fawns but we had two rambunctious bear cubs that were raised in our house. This was back in the early/mid 60’s by my sisters hairdo.

One of our neighbours rang us up and asked if I could get off the school bus(a 56chev panel van with wood side benches) at their place to help dig potatoes. So bringing the potatoes into the house then down a trap door in the middle of the kitchen to the cellar, come back up the ladder, turn around and here is a yearling moose calf standing in the kitchen!

Ha! - "on his feet" - back in the day, it was common enough on the bush farms and rural Sask. to see actual "Grandma knit" heavy wool socks being worn with rubber galoshes in the winter - kept one's feet "warmish" and dry, I am told - perhaps what he was wearing was the B.C. version - I think all was supplied by Army and Navy Department Store - often Mail Order.
