Are FMJ's illegal for hunting or not. I have heard both it is and isn't.

It is illegal to hunt "Big Game" with FMJ's in Sasktchewan, but it's a provincial regulation. This is not a restriction in all provinces and coyote's are not Big Game. Many provinces also have restrictions on minimum caliber sizes you can hunt Big Game with that wont apply to small game like rabbits or coyotes.

Check out the hunting regulations by province at: http://www.huntingoutfitters.ca/Regulations_hunting_Canada.htm

I have always used a 22-250 however it does eat pelts i th eanimals i have shot! But its a varmint killer proven over and over.
Just got that little extra punch and a slight advantage in wind conditions. I have also used the 243 which is my gem

even if you only put ten boxes of ammo through your rifle a year, Id think within five years your barrel will show signs of heavy throat erosion. Shoot any less than that and I'd doubt you could shoot it well enough to take advantage of the extra range a cartridge like the 223wssm gives you over something like a 22-250

my .02

let us know how it shoots

Only asking because I don't know, but, is 1000 rounds all to be expected, barrel wise, fom the wssm?

wssm aint gonna be friendly on barrel throats, when that 40 grainer leaves the case mouth at 4300 fps chased by 45 grains of Varget

1000 would be about right before accuracy starts to fade, IMO

If your a handloader a single shot .22 hornet and 40-55gr SPITZERS will reach out and touch and not only will you be able to spot your shots you also won't have every person within 20 miles calling the police when they here gun shots.
