Not a happy camper right now....

I want to learn to weld screw it I'm just going to buy one one of these days and get that done. But in the mean time 1899 I can run a 9 inch grinder fine enough if the locksmith doesn't show :)
 
Angle grinder fitted with Zip Cut wheel & careful use of the bugger should get the thing open without
damage to the goodies inside. A cutting torch or plasma cutter would blow a lot of molten metal into
the interior of the safe, possibly cookin' things a bit.:eek:
 
I am back from a weekend of relaxing, watching the scenery and catching Lake Char.

And.....I opened my safe! A CGNer wrote to me that he had similar problems and gave similar instructions to what the fellow from Safety First did.

This is how I opened it:

The handle had some spring towards the lock direction - so I held the key in the "lock" (12 o'clock) position with my right hand while I reefed on the handle towards the lock position (counter-clockwise) until I bottomed out on the spring, whereupon I gentle turned the key. It worked - the safe opened.

I will be returning it to Costco shortly!

Good stuff !! I don't have a Costco safe, but have been following the thread with interest....
