Just sent in my (Restricted) PAL application in today! (Xpresspost three day delivery, signature required!)

I wanted to shout it from the rooftops. But my neighbours wouldn't like that - so I'll shout here.

In 28+ days I will be able to legally purchase firearms and ammunition!:D

I can't wait to spend gobs of money on boomsticks!

What I'd really like to do is go shopping like Arnie did in the movie "Commando"... 6 of these automatic whatevers, 4 of those other automatic whatevers, a dozen of those other "not-legal-in-Canada" ones, an armful of grenades, a rocket launcher or two, plus a tacticool jumbo oversized knife suitable for spearing the nearest galaxy, and pair of swim fins (and a 1980's Rae Dawn Chong dressed like a flight attendant).

But since our government denies us the ability to own such wonderful tools, I think after much research and calculating, I'm going to get a Tikka T3 Stainless Steel in .30-06 first. Next I'll either get a Norinco 1911 or a Mossberg 500 12 ga. All from CGN vendors (or my local guy).

Good for you! I got my RPAL/PAL in about a month and a half. Note that I had to send in a letter midway explaining my failed relationship...

Get the Mossberg 500 12 gauge 3" in the pistol grip with 6 shot tube, then tell me what you think.....:D

I did the pistol grip Mossberg as my first gun a few month back... now I am looking to buy a stock with and adjustable butt piece and pistol grip. My hand was killing me the next day. It looks cool but I quickly learned they arent the most practical. Still fun to shoot if you dont mind a swollen hand though :p

I guess I'm lucky... Last "failed relationship" was over two years ago.

No thanks on the pistol grip. Don't know if I want all that recoil going through my wrists. I was thinking of the 8 shot Persuader.

Not a bad choice.

I've been wanting a pistol grip shorty for hiking protection. I've got plenty of black bear where I go. Mind you I'd pack some of those screaming whistle rounds before I'd start pumping slugs. :p

I also want a pistol grip so I could teach some of my friends some respect. Load up some birdshot for myself, and a magnum slug for them.... :D

Ouch....

Cheers,
Sand

I know the feeling! congratulations! My RPAL came in 30 days. Read the sticky "Shorten approval times" and do exactly like it says there. Saved me lots of waiting time.
Also, you don't need to wait until your license come up to buy a gun of your dreams. I bought three rifles in the first week after sending my application to Miromichi - two from sponsors here and one from the local dealer. :D
Keep us updated! Good luck! :)

Welcome and congrats.

If you are willing to listen to an old guy, buy a fixed stock shotgun first. You will have time enough to learn the limitations of a pistol grip only SG.

I thought I already posted a reply to this. Guess I didn't.

I know the limitations of a pistol grip only shotgun... You take a few shots with it, wonder why you didn't at least buy one with a folding stock, then clean it, oil it, and put it back in the safe where it will stay until you take it out to snap some pictures so you can sell it on CGN's EE.
