Hello,

I have been having an issue where I can't move the section of the scope which changes the magnification. It's a 3200 elite and I never really had the issue before until 2 months ago. Scope has not been dropped and I am not sure what I can do. I keep trying but I am scared to put too much force.

Any help is appreciated.

I just checked and no it is about 1/2 a cm away from the ring. The rings are on pretty tight I guess so the scope doesn't move however the tub doesn't move when you switch the magnification, only the back section of the scope does so unless the tightness affects this.

Umm Worked fine even last weekend but was a little hard to do but now I can't do it to save my life

Depending on the type of rings, sometimes it is possible to overtighten the rings enough to squeeze the tube enough to jam the mechanism. Sometimes loosening the ring screws will fix things, sometimes it won't.

They are standard weaver rings that look like this. Like I said I loosened the ring a decent amount and still won't move. Makes sense if you overtighten but if I loosened it, it should have started to work properly.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If the tube is squeezed enough, you can permanently distort it. You can also have things jam up if the scope rings are out of alignment and distort the tube.

Thats not good to hear but nothing has changed in the last 2 months, why all of a sudden has it started to act up?

Have you tried releasing both sets of ring crews, and removing the scope from the rings?

This sounds like a couple of brand new Leupold VXIIs that I used to own,you almost needed channel locks to turn the magnification rings, and that was before they were mounted.

Well I took the scope right off and thought I would give it one more try with semi hard pressure and I heard a snap and now the ring moved freely 360 degrees. :(

Guess time for a new scope.

If it is an Elite 3200, it will be under full warranty from Bushnell.
Just need to send it in.
I believe twenty dollars worth of freight.
Ten there and they wish for you to pay the ten dollars to send it back to you.

Ya I read my manual about warranty but they will prob say this is because of abuse. I will send it in anyways and see what happens. Sucks, can't shoot now.

I made the mistake of putting a cheap Bushnell Banner 1.5-4 x20 on a Winchester Model 70 XTR .338 Win.Mag. My son tagged himself when I lent it to him for moose hunting. Now it's a 2-4x. My fault for putting a cheap scope on a gun like that. I'm replacing it with a 2-7x Elite.

hey, you don't know until you TRY - just send it in along with the shipping, and see what happens- as it is, it is useless to you now unless you know how to rebuild and evacuate a scope, and it has been my experience that bushell has, over the years replaced 2 low end scopes with BRAND NEW EQUIPMENT for me- all i paid was the s&h and the 'INSPECTION FEE"- ONE OF WHICH was an old water damaged SCOPECHIEF from the 70's

had the same problem with a 7x to 21x 3200. 3 of them failed one after the other, one actually jammed solid right in my hand, in the and i lost patience went back where i got them and traded it for a nikon monarch.

I mailed it back in and it arrived yesterday at their repair center. Hopefully they fix it. There was no abuse to it, power ring just didn't wanna move.
