That is a snow deflector. It wipes the snow of the underneath of the track and shoots it out the side off the track. With out that in wet sticky snow the snow would ball up in the track and under extreme conditions do some damage. Need to keep the track clean to prevent freezing up at night. I made it from two $5 kids "crazy carpets" and a few pop rivets, it works superbly.

Apparently one of the most popular mod is to put a Subaru boxer engine in it but some drivetrain parts needs replacement because of the extra torque.
