I am looking for a spotting scope that as you can see from the title isn't made in China. I am trying to avoid Chinese made products as much as possible. Not an easy task. I will put the ceiling price at $1000.

Is there even such a thing available?

Many are made in Japan, as with plenty of other optics.

If that's not a problem you should have lot's of options.

Do you realize the economic relationship between China and the US?

If you did you wouldn't be buying US made either.

Just sayin.......

Our store shelves are not exactly Chinese free either. Buying from Japan, Europe or depending on the company, the USA would be my preference.

I was just at a shop and they have a left-over, from a long time, Steiner 24x80 - made in West Germany. They are asking $999 for it.

That is certainly so. In fact, if you offered me the choice between two optical devices and told me all else was equal but one was made in Japan and one in the U.S., I'd choose the Japanese for the reason that I think there'd be a chance it was better built. I only asked Satain for clarification in case the original poster wanted to rely on Redfield stuff being U.S. made. I'm sure I read that some of the new Redfield stuff - not sure of all but definitely not the riflescopes - is made overseas, and I don't recall where overseas.
