Hey all

so, for some time, i've wanted a bit of a black, police-ey bolt action 308..

700's are cool and all, but I'm a big fat cheap ass.

My prayers were answered today!

I picked up a brand new rifle, it's a neat new thing from Mossberg,
called the ATR 100, i've read some stuff about it.. good reviews, solid, reliable, more than reasonable accuracy..

so, it's the rifle, with a nice action, (similar to the 700's) same safety type etc..
comes with a cheap but solid adjustable bipod, a nice padded sling, a rail, rings and a neat, large 4-16 Barska (huh?) scope..
flip up caps, and see through scope covers as well.. cable lock, etc etc.

it's a lovely gun, i'm very happy I found it, since it's neat, it's got good reviews, has all the extras i'd want out of the box, and was cheap to boot.

I'll report whenever I shoot the thing.. hopefully soon.

here are a couple pics i took with the webcam. it's really quite nice. nice finish, tight, free float bbl, recessed crown etc etc..

I saw it on the mosberg website...was wondering if it's any good. They also make (or used to ) just the rilfe they were ~300 IIRC
 
How well it shoots has nothing to do with whether it's a precision rifle or not. It's black and has a scope and bipod... good enough for this forum! Besides, it's a nice change from all the SPS vs. Stevens rivalry in the precision frum.

i looked at getting on on the weekend.. could have swiped my card n walked away with it.. but i resisted.. except the one in the shop was a full length suppressor overbarrell.. so basically suppressor starts at the action n the stock is made to accomidate it.

i didnt know how well they shot so i didnt buy it ..

so im looking forward to your report !
 
Worst rifle I ever shot for accuracy was a Mossberg bolt in 30-06. Grouped about 6" at 100 yards.

Changed to a new barrel and it works very well. But it has a cheap wood stock, not a cheap plastic stock. I much prefer the wood. It takes a very expensive synthetic stock to be as stiff as wood.
