Not sure about my new EOTech

Don't add a magnifier, those things are extremely unwieldy.
Are you shooting prone or standing?

I can get a 2" (100 yards) group sitting with my Aimpoint
3" with Eotech, so I sold the eotech.

I don't think you need a need a magnifier, you either need to practice more or try a red dot instead of a holo sight.

Sorry, I don't mean worse as in worse, just that it has its application like anything else. for hunting I see little point with an EOTech or reflex sight. Get something with a permanent 3 or 4x magnification.

I am shooting from a bench rest. It's interesting that you got better results with an Aimpoint. I will practice more with my Eotech before making a decision. It's early days yet.

I am not even considering a magnifier. I would rather go back to a traditional scope.
 
I'd suggest turning the brightness down as well to as low as possible... makes the dot seem smaller, and also prevents the rest of the reticle from making the sight picture obscured. I find if I turn it down to baaaarely visible, it helps for longer shots.

I have a 2MOA Aimpoint T1 on my Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle... should make an excellent sub 200yard deer gun!
 
I was thinking of going this route for my slug gun as I need a optic mounted as low as possible .anybody try one on a slug gun for shooting out to 100 yards max Dutch
 
I sighted my semi auto Browning 1919a4 with an EOTech 512 & custom mount...

Here it is... First shot was low, so I adjusted the scope & shot the rest of the group.

So... It is possible to get decent groups with the 1MOA dot...

My eyes have a hard time focusing on a holo sight, if i stare at it too long the reticle goes blurry. Im sure there are people who can shoot well with it.

Not trying to be rude but you're using the optic incorrectly. Do not look at the reticle. You are to focus on the target. By doing this the reticle will appear very crisp and give the illusion that the reticle is "on" the target.

I have been practicing with a non magnified T1 Micro on my AR. Deciding on whether I really need a magnifier. I agree with canucklehead. And I also agree a dot is better for the job than the holo sight from the Eotech or chevron types. Turn down the intensity to the minimum you can see. The dot sharpens up and calibrate it for dead center of your target at 100m. You will see that the dot basically covers your target. Good luck with the experiment. Your rifle must scare the fudds in your neighborhood!

Hunters who want something better than iron sights, but don't want magnification. Aimpoints were popular for hunting in Europe long before they became mainstream on military firearms.

The key to using a red dot is to keep both eyes open and focus on the target. Don't look through it as if it were just another kind of scope.

If you find that an RDS doesn't work for you, a 1-4x or thereabouts variable would be a good alternative.
