Hello I'm looking for some advice, I have 3 Winchester XPR bolt actions, I'd like to thread the barrels, one I know doesn't need it, but want to have it for poos and laughs, I have a 308 Winchester 300 win mag and 338 win mag, I want to midegate sorry for spelling, the recoil on the larger 2 magnums, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

I'm thinking chevron styles but I'm not sure, the 2 30 cal bullet firing ones i can do a 5/8 - 24 threads, the other I'm not sure, any suggestions on what Smith to use? The one I wanted to deal with said the barrels had to be removed, sadly they are a savage style barrel nut with one hole, and the chamber is head spaced thru the barrel nut.

Barrel should be removed for proper lathe cut threading, any decent Smith can do it. 5/8x24 might not be an option based on the muzzle diameter.
Where abouts are you?

I was fearing that, and I am in central Labrador, looking for a while actually, was told not to remove barrels by Winchester, love the rifles

Removing and re installing the barrel should not be a problem for a gunsmith.

But if the smith has a lathe with a large hole through the head stock and the barrel is over 20 inches in length, it does not need to be removed for muzzle threading. I do them all the time.

You can do 9/16 x 24, you do not require 5/8" on the 338.

Hmm, can you tell me how much it would be to thread the barrels for my 3 rifles, the win mags are longer than 20 inches, the 308 I think is 18 to 20, I'm not home right now to measure lol

I am in B.C.

Postage both ways is yours... only the barrelled actions are needed... in as small a package as you can make it.
