Not the same

Problem is not just used or range brass, bought a bag of 44-40 winchester brand new, seated primers and ran them over expander die then noticed 2 cases were 44mag.
I have also seen brand new ammo where part of the box was obviously not the same calibre.

The biggest issue that I have run into with buying "once fired" brass, is when seller decides to re-size and run through a stainless pin wet tumbler - no evidence left at all - brass looks all shiny and new - no fired primer left to inspect - and then primer pockets are loose - I do not know how to tell that ahead of time - some have been excellent - 8 or 10 more loadings by me - but some really horrible - do not even get one loading from them. Goes to reputation of Seller and source of that brass and price - I am set up to re-size and tumble brass - I am no longer interested in someone else doing that, at all, especially since it eradicates any clues that I know to look for.

Im ok with used brass but not reloaded brass. I always cut a cases in half from any batch I get from a seller to check for stretching.
Not all I'm sure but break action rifles are the worst for stretching.
