Could have posted this in the hunting forum but this rifle will spend 99% of its life plinking out to 1000 yards or more I hope. 7 months in the making. Started out just before christmas when I picked up a Defiance long action off the EE (thank Canuck525). Shortly after christmas located a #6 Krieger (26" long .750" at the muzzle) from an unmentionable source. Got this down to my main man Craige Douglas who did a wonderful job finishing and chambering the barrel to 6.5-06 throated for 142smk's. Started on the stock in January and just completed it the other day. Kind of a classic design with quite a high comb and a bit more vertical grip than a sporter. Finished it off with 5 coats of automotive clearcoat. Had it out once while I was building the stock, smallest group was 1"1/4 at 300yds (5 shot) with H1000. Going to try H4831 this weekend, will post some target pics next week if they are small enough.:D

Very nice build there. I started off using H4831 with 140 bergers in mine but found that H-1000 gave higher velocity with great accuracy - FWIW

###y looking rifle you got there. I really like that stock. Very nice pics too.

What do you have there for rings and bases, rings look like Warne. I have a set of Warne and really like them and especially the vertical split look. Cheers Roscoe

Thanks for all the comments and wisdom guys. The rings are Warne, I thought they suited the rifle quite well and are rock solid. The base is 20moa from Defiance Machine, came with the action.

Too pretty to take hunting.

Enjoy... H4831SC was what worked for me.

consider the Bergers and Hrn as well. JLK if you really want to see how good it might shoot

Jerry

Hoping to find a good load with the smk's as I got a pile of them. Have 140 gr berger's and 140 gr JLK to try as well. As a matter of fact you sold them to me as well as the Sightron, thanks Jerry.

I don't normally comment on rifle builds but thats a nice rig, not the same old "tacticool" stuff we see so much of. Nice spray work on the stock! BTW most of my rifles are "tacticool", maybe thats why its so refreshing!

It shurrrr is puurrrdy....

Still kicking myself I sold that action and this just makes it more painful....

Seriously, that is one slick looking setup....

Yeah, that is a sick looking setup (sick meaning beautiful)! Very seldom you see a rig online that you wouldn't change a single thing on........but there it is!
