well i thought i would get caught up on some reloading today...it was to hot to go outside to play..so i thought i,d stay indoors and play in the a/c..
i set off to resize some brass to get ready for some hunting rounds

soon as i had all set up..the damm a/c dies..it blew a fuse..and i,ll be dammed if i had a spare..off the store i go:rolleyes:
get home ,replace fuse then enjoy cold air again...
went to find my debur tool....i,ll be a sob f i know where that went..
resized about 60 pcs...
then i had the damm thing jam up and i pulled the end off a brass...
but i was smart... i heard of this happing;) so i had a spare set of dies so as to not hold me up ..
i changed the dies...redid a few more brass...had one more jam up..
i thought what the hell,i,ll just reef this a bit...
a big ooops there...as i,ll be dammed ,i snapped the handle off the machine.. the damm thing broke off at the end of the threads..,
i went to go out to my truck to see if my tire iron wold help me finish the job..but on the way out the door..i thought..thats a few strike outs today..so i left all the mess mess to deal with tomorrow..
do yous have these bad days to?or was it a it sucks to me day?:rolleyes:
 
When days like this happen to me I put my tools down walk away. The next day I go back to it and everything works out fine. Some days are just not meant to get things done.

loll.. I too have encounter one of these, there is not much to do beside leave all that for tomorrow, relax, have a drink and have a good night sleep:D . Hope you don't wake up tomorrow realizing you forgot to lube :eek: .;) .

more the enough lube was used..it was just a it sucks to me day
 
You've gotta' have a bad one every once in a while, just so you can compare & tell the difference between good & bad. If it was that easy, everyone would 'be doing it'. I was reloading today as well, some 'Moose Magic', hopefully for 2009. .500 S&W, 500gr Hornady's @ 1300 f/sec. I'll 'test' them out tomorrow, hopefully.
 
Sorry about your luck but we've had a good chuckle so some good has come from your bad day. CGN forums sometimes tend to be a bit dry, albeit very informative, so a little humour adds a nice touch. Better days are ahead, just don't know when.
 
well today i have to face the music:eek: the broken handle is an easy fix...i,ll take to work and rethread the end .....now for the stuck brass with the broken off end ..whats the tricks to remove?
 
well i be dammed...the saga continues:eek: i just put the kettle on to have a coffee...as i was checking over my reloading stuff..
i smelled smoke...this dumb a$$.. put the wrong burner on the stove and just set fire to his new indoor bbq...mmmmmm the smell of plastic burning in an apt...well at least the flames were doused easily:redface:
 
Time to go back to bed there Don.

Removing brass with the head ripped off can be a tad of a pi$$ off.
Start by dissassembling the die.
When you remove the expander ball/decapping rod chances are good that the brass will come out easily.
Check those dies for scratches and gummy deposits, and check your adjustments.
You should not be getting stuck cases with clean brass, and good lube.

Bob..i believe my problem starts off not using a solid table...when sizing if i run into a small glitch i have to stop or i flip the table..with what leaves me losing the momementum of the sizing stroke..then i have to give quik jab of it to finish...
this will be rectified before my next reloading bout..
i quess my next thread will be about how to make a solid portable reloading table:redface: ...
i was at a buddies today....he had some 1 1/2 inch thick plywood... looks like a great start to a table:)

so who has a plan to get brass that has the bottom lip ripped off out of a die?..
if all fails,i,ll take to work and smash the crap out of all in a 300 ton press ...
then i,ll go buy new ones;)
im telling ya,s reloading is fun...i even went to princess auto today to get a new digital caliper... they had a cheapie on sale for 15.00$...but i passed on that one and got the good one..
reloading is a pain in the arse at times..but so am i.. thats why i wont quit:)

seriously next time I have a bad day I wish I could use this solution, I bet computer equipment / boards make a GREAT Crunching noise....

well i took the dies to work today...i started up the big press...i told myself..its 7 am..im hot and grabby already...i,ll give it a half hour go to get brass out then its crunch time:D
but just using a vise and a steel rod just a tad smaller then the inside diameter of the casing..it was tapped out easily...
and i had vision of posting a pic of my die smashed to dust..:D ..
the table i was using is a pedostel type...im making up a tempory extra leg to mount under the vice when i set up press to avoid this crap again..
but if any one that has a set of dies they want smashed to crap:D please send to me;)
 
that will teach ya bro for working on the weekend when you should of been over dosing on beerskies:p glad to see you got things worked out
