It's just fine. Similar to a 30-30. Reloads with FTX bullets and Leverevolution powder might move the
30-30 ahead. The Leverevolution moved the point of impact of flat nosed bullets up 12"@100M for me.

X2! I nailed a nice 6 pointer 2 yrs. ago with my handloads (123 Hornady Interlock on top of 25.5 gr. RL7) and it didn't go but 10 ft. or so. Personally, while I can print 1-7/8" groups at 200 m with my Howa 1500, I still wouldn't like to engage game over 150 m or so. Mind you, where we hunt, there are only about 2 areas where you get clear shots over 60-80 m. IMHO, it's an excellent deer round when used within it's limitations.
