Notice to BC wilderness ATC holders

I think that someone needs to point out that revolvers are also unreliable when filled with dirt and sticks and such....

I think it has to be mentioned to the officer that you take the same care of your weapon (or better) then LEO officers like dfo and CO, some things to mention is that you are ,

- left handed, a revolver does not work well for you
- are going to use a full flap holster that totally covers the gun and keeps dirt out
- you find revolver grips to small for you
- when loaded properly the 10mm launches a 200gr projectile at 1200 fps giving the same ballistics as a .41 magnum but with 10 shots
- the automatic pistol, most notably in the glock platform has been renowned for reliabilty and ability to funtion no matter what.

an automatic will function the same as a revolver, maybe even better if there is a gross intrusion of material into the holster.

I think one of the problems they see is what type of holsters these people are carrying thier guns in.... I imagine a lot of uncle mike and bladetech kydex holsters are being used. personally I would not settle for anything but a bianachi m12 style with a flap, us cavalry style would even be better.

Are any of you fella's members of the CSSA or NFA? You really need the CFO to feel like he openned up a can of worms and to do that you need to create a s_hitstorm for these beaurocrats. File as many access to information requests as you can think of, have the CSSA and NFA lawyers file legal notices, and demand refusals in writing for the explicit purpose of taking them to court.

I can't believe this @sshat would be stupid enough to start dictating which handguns he'll issue ATC's for.... he's leaving the province wide open to liability claims. "The CFO wouldn't renew my semi-auto ATC so I was forced to buy this revolver. When the cougar attacked, I wasn't proficient with the revolver and missed with my first shot. Unfortunately I also wasn't prepared for the added recoil of the revolver and the cougar was on me before I could get off a second round."

Cfo

Who appoints a CFO? Do they not have any accountability? Not from Canada so I'm trying like hell to get my head around how a CFO can make a declaration like this without having to answer for the decision.

Please join or donate to the RFOCBC,,they tend to stay a tune of provincial situations like this..

Good suggestion.

As odd as it sounds, I believe the provincial CFO is a federal government appointment is it not? If so, then regardless of which province we are from, everybody that has a Conservative MP could write a letter to their rep telling them that we expect this dip#### to get straightened out. He should be following legal requirements - not making them up.

You can make Stockwell Day aware of the problem, but because the the F-U way the Firearms Act is administered, I believe the CFO falls under Provincial Jurisdiction.

We used to think the Provincial administration was a good thing when they ignored the Firearms Act. Now it is biting us in the ass at every turn. First Quebec and Ontario, now BC is jumping on the stupidity wagon.

Get NFA and CSSA involved for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to hear they are already on this.

In that case I will stop at Mike DeJong's office this morning and discuss this with him or at least make an appointment to see him if he is not in today.

If this is provincial I guarantee that it is the federal Lieberal leaning Chilliwack MLA/Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General John Les that is behind this.

He ran as a federal Lieberal before he ran for the provincial Liberals and is basically as anti-gun as you can get...

Thanks keep us posted..

The question is, what can we do about it? (In this came especially)

buy a S&W 610 ??

send the BC CFO the Ted Nugent vs Cape buff hunting video ??

Seriously though, that is pretty messed up.

I included my K22's registration cert # on my renewal one time, just to see if they actualy read and cross-referenced applications (they do), but they had no issue with my G17 and 357 revolvers.

I read somewhere that only 900 individuals have ATCs in Kanada...
Sounds like a conspiracy...

For some reason in todays political climate the term 'semi-auto' has become synonomous with EVIL?

Hence, LIEberal proposed semi-auto ban?

Sounds like alot of these CFO's are LIEberals or got their jobs from LIEberals and are now "setting the stage" for the banning of semi-auto handguns/and/or firearms?

If semi-auto handguns are not legal to carry with ATC=No need for anyone to own one?

Except police and military??

This country is truly fooked...

Here is the info on ATC's issued in Canada that you were refering too...

Just received a response from my MP in regards to this...

I wrote...

It turns out that the BC/Yukon Firearms Center’s new Head Officer is denying Authorization to Carry handguns in remote wilderness area permit holders/applicants the use of semi-auto handguns due to them being unreliable.

Which is obviously just a way of banning semi-auto handguns because semi-autos are extremely reliable and when chambered with the right cartridge like 10mm are more efficient than a 41 magnum revolver.

Also a semi-auto is in most cases lighter resulting in being easier to carry and they hold more rounds than a revolver.

"I've spoken to Minister Day's office.

They advise that they are well aware of the issue and are reviewing it. Having said that, the legislation is the law of the country at this time.

We'll just have to wait and see where it goes from here. I have passed on your concerns to the Minister".

What legislation would he be referring to that says semi-automatics are not accepted and revolvers are? I doubt any such legislation exists and it is most likely just the 'opinion' of the RCMP. CC can you clarify this? It looks like your MP isn't fully aware of the details of the problem?

Cheers

I will be seeing him tomorrow night and will get it hopefully clarified for us.

As of now I'm just assuming he used the wrong term and meant this is what all CFC offices are starting to do.
