Ok, the hunting regulations in this province are down right retarded.

Many years ago, my father took me out, slapped an orange tuque on me and we shot bunnies just off the highway until our toes got cold and we ran outta hot chocolate.

What happened?

I'm trying to figure this all out before rabbit season and my head is going in circles, habitat stamps and wild life cards and ONLINE hunters ed and 2 licences and the list goes on... I need a drink!

Can someone tell me how to do this all in one shot and in time for this years birds and bunnies?

I need one of these: http://www.gov.ns.ca/natr/wrcard/default.asp

Which I can't get without taking one of these: http://www.atlantichuntered.ca/

So I can apply for this:http://www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr/paal/dnr/paal345.asp

And this: http://www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr/paal/dnr/paal108.asp

YOU NEED A PERMIT TO KEEP MEAT IN YOUR FREEZER: http://www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr/paal/dnr/paal115.asp

Where do I send my blood and urine samples?

This is ludicrous!

PLEASE HELP!!!!

The Hunters education safety course is taught every few months at what ever building donates the space (usually the Eastern Shore Ground Search & Rescue in Lake Echo or a local fire hall in that area) usually on a Saturday.

Then once you have that you go to Canadian Tire,Wal*Mart, any outdoor store that sells ammo usually sells your $3 Wildlife Habitat stamp and your small game licence.DNR offices also sell them.Basically most places that sell fishing licences also sell your hunting licences.

About keeping meat in freezer I don't know.

I had originally signed up through NSFA but they never called. We heard wind they were putting the classes on at the search and rescue hall.

We actually met Sidney there the same course. Coincidence.

Basically you pay $50, take the course, get your papers and submit them. Get your wildlife stamp at natural resources or where ever else they sell them.

It was nice to meet you,the hunter's safety course is $20.

Here is what you need to do:

Go online and find out when they are offering the Hunter Education course then give the fellow a call and sign up for the course. Then take the course and pass the test. At the end of the course they will issue you with a yellow slip of paper saying that you have passed the course and with that yellow sheet you can go to canadian tire present them with the yellow sheet and buy a Habitat Stamp (which you need for all hunting) then your small game license (for birds and bunnies). The guys that put on the course will send all the info to DNR and in about four months you will recieve your Wildlife card in the mail. The next time you go and buy a hunting license present the Wildlife card instead of the yellow sheet. Hope this helps

When I took my hunting course last march it took only 10 days or so to receive the actual card by mail.

Great advice, also if they are not giving the course in your are soon enough try the next area. Might help you get it a little sooner but you will have a little extra travel also.

You also don't need a small game lisense for rabbits, just the Wildlife Habitant stamp.

You do need the small game lisense for Pheasant and Ruffed Grouse (partridge).

Hope this helps.

Do you have a Hunter's Ed card from any other province?

And a question for the Nova Scotians? If he did have a card from another rpovince, would NS issue him a card upon presentation of the other one?

They do that here on PEI.

Hey,

C-68 - yes, in NS they will issue you a Wildlife card if you has a similar card or have proof that you have completed a hunter ed course.

Seth - If you do the online course you have to do the online assignments and bring them to a hunter ed instructor when you write the test. If I was to do it again I would do the online course because the test is a pretty simple if you have read through the hunter ed booklet and done the assignments. However, if you do the course then there are no assignments and all you have to do is listen to an old wise man read through the book and enjoy some of his hunting stories.

hope it helps
