Hi all.

I am a bit late posting these, but I wanted to share them none the less.

These are 2 deer that we got during the November controlled hunt in Uxbridge.

This one was on opening day, at about 30 yards.

This one was a woping 213 yards away (I know I didn't believe it either) at first I didn't think I hit him, but after coming down out of the stand, to have a look, sure enough, he was down.

I used my new 12 ga. Mossy 930, 24" rifled barrel with Remington Core-lokt slugs on both deer.

I am SOLD on this gun after that last shot!

Thanks,

Steve.

Wow, 213 yards with a slug gun, that's quite a shot! I didn't think that a slug gun would be effective that far out. What's the effective range on with a modern rifled slug shotgun?

Great job. Dem good eats you got there :)

I shot 2 deer this season around the 180 mark. The new riflied slugs sure do a good job knocking them down. A standard smoothbore shotgun shooting rifled slugs will shoot out to about 125 yards if your a good shot. The new rifled slugs well past 200 yards as the original op shows :)

them sabot slugs are unreal. My buddy with a 26" barrel and shooting Hornady SST he's got his gun dead on at 150 yards. At 200 yards its only 6 inches lower and 100 yards its 2.75 inches high. I'll be investing in one of them for next season forsure.

Here is the point I've made in the past. The new technology in slugs is not your grandpa's old smoothbore with fosters. There's not much you can't do with a shotgun these days.

Well done.

Thank you for the comments.

I have to agree with blargon, shotguns these days are extremely versatile.

I have more faith in the gun after that shot that I ever expected to.

If anyone is considering the 930 (not to knock any of the other manufacturers out there) you can't beat it for the $$.

Steve.
