That's a beauty! Were you on site at Haynes? I was absentee, so had to rely on description by phone--did the pistol come with that case?

Ed

No, I was not at the auction. I too placed an absentee bid. Had a long conversation with Jim on this one. If anything he was very conservative in his description. I was pleasently surprized when it arrived. The fitted cases are available on e-bay from time to time.

DAMN that's a great lookin Steyr shorty. If mine had had wood that nice, I wouldn't have sold it! Fun little rifle to shoot, too...

Just received a beautiful Finn M/27 for longbranch*. Always wanted a nice M/27 and now that I have one I think it needs an M/39 to go with it. The M/91 above it is a P-series I've had for years.

Ok, well here's a teaser pic (from seller) of the next acquisition. Don't know if it will arrive for November, so this isn't the final word on this one yet. And yes, it's a wartime Tula and no, it's not fake ;) Those who know their stuff will know right away what the CH markings mean, along with a 2 letter prefix and 3 digit serial on a Tula 91/30...

Well here is #3 for November, a 1947 Fazakerly made No. 5 Mk.1 It's condition is about 99.99% and it's all matching. And it's not been FTR'd, now all I need is a Bayonet in the same condition.:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

Didja scare that up down south, or had someone around here been squirreling one away for years? I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say I hate you...

It came from Canada. Lets just say I keep the lines of communication open with the best dealers ;) It also helps I buy ALOT of milsurps from some of them...

What Klunk said.

Izhevsk placed a second serial number on the barrel shank to denote a rifle set aside to become a "Sneyepirskaya Vintovka". Tula, on the other hand, marked the barrel shank with the above CH characters over the Tula star.

The fakes/reproductions Interordnance is pumping out has the CH on either side of the Tula logo. This is on purpose to differentiate them from the real snipers. Also, all Tula snipers have three-number serial numbers. Just a bit of info...

The sad news is mine was decomissioned as a Sniper post-war. The good news is I have a correct Tula wartime mount & rings and a correct original 1943 PU scope. Ain't life grand?

FYI, Tula sniper rifles are FAR less common than their Izhevsk counterparts.

I am in the process of buying the .22 Tokarev that Armco has(had).

I'm planning on picking up an additional 7.62x25mm barrel and associated recoil spring and magazine sometime in the future so I can convert it over.
