*****NOVEMBER PURCHASES*****

I people can post non-milsurp stuff in the Milsurp purchase thread, can I start dropping in AR build pics and shots of my new Remmy 700?

Let's try to stay on topic people, there are other fora on this board to address the non-milsurp pics.

Only mentioning this as I've seen a not so gradual dilution of real milsurp content in the purchase threads over the past 6 months to the point where many of the serious milsurp collectors are now purposely NOT posting to these threads because they consider them off topic.

'nuff said.

PS: Nice Pietta - must get me one of those...

Well, there are only about 4 serious collectors that post on the forum at all, and no I don't consider you one of them.......
Generally their pieces are unique and rare enough that they warrant their own posts as not to flood the "monthly purchase" threads with pages of questions and praise. I'll remove the pic as per your whining.........

hitzy, cool down - my comments weren;t directed at you. At least the 7.5" 1873 SAA is a replica of a legitimate US Army revolver. I'm talking about all the guys posting other crap like remmy shotguns and SL8's and stuff like that is not at all related to milsurping!

And I really don;t care if you consider me a colelctor or not - FWIW, the CFC does not  .

I'd say I was a rather serious Enfield collector at one point and DID have many of the rare variants, but frankly I've sold most of them off in recent years (to collectors and usually not through CGN) to try new and different things :) Interests evolve and that's normal.

I was not talking about me by the way, but rather some members I know pretty well whom I DO consider serious collectors. Several have had pm discussions with me in this regard. It's more than a coincidence!

EDIT: To be clear, I consider modern replicas of legit milsurps to be valid posting material (ie, Pedersoli 1858 Enfield replica for example), but guys - come ON. A Norinco P228 clone or a S&W 686 is not really on topic. Neither is a 14" Remington 870 Police. We have pistol and shotgun forums for stuff like that!

Well, some bleeding over of October purchases into November, but........

~Angel~ got herself a beautiful all matching and correct 1945 Longbranch No.4 Mk1*(T) sniper rifle c/w No.32 scope, plus a 1945 Inglis 9mm Browning. She also found herself a historic piece. It's an all matching and correct BSA Shirley (M47c) No.4 Mk1(T) sniper rifle c/w with No.32 scope and marked to No.4 Commando, complete with written provence from Captain Peter Mason who used it in WWII. He wrote the book "Churchill's Assasins" and the rifle came with his sniper veil, ammo pouches and an autographed copy of his book, plus email correspondence surrounding the rifle.

I found a gorgeous 1909 Argentine long rifle, all matching serial numbers including cleaning rod, at the Bradford gun show for $250. Also found an amazing condition 1908 Brazilian long rifle, again all matching serial numbers including bayonet and scabbard for $400.

Finally, I found something new and fun to learn about and possibly shoot, if I can find enough of the right ammo, since we don't reload. An 1898 Krag rifle and an 1899 Krag carbine, both in 30-40 caliber and in great condition.

Been awful busy at work the last few months, but I'll try to take some pics of all this kit and get them posted here in the next few weeks.

Regards,
Badger

Hey badger, nice snags!! You sure those Krags are .30-06 and not .30-40 Krag? AMAZING price on the 1909 by the way!

Yea, I love the old Argentines and Brazilians. Unfortunately, every time I see one in excellent condition at a fair price (some look almost new), I impulsively buy them....

Now I've got a gun rack full of them, including a lovely 1909 Argentine sniper. I couldn't resist the $250 price tag on the old girl I bought last weekend. Generally, they run about $400-$500 or more for good quality collector examples.

Yup. it's 30-40... sorry... a typo....

Badger

As far as I'm concerned as one of the mods of this forum, post whatever new acquisition you'd like here. The regular users of the Milsurp forum are our own little community here on CGN. If you want to show a pic of your AR, go right ahead Claven. If Hitzy wants to show us a pic of his new Super Chipmunk 3000, I'd like to see a pic of it too.
