It's the middle of the month, and I don't see a November Purchases thread. What gives? Nobody buys guns this month?
Anyway, these 40mm Bofors barrels showed up last week. They were subject to outdoor storage, as can be seen by the surface rust. As can be seen in the photos, I managed to get one of them sandblasted and re-blued, and was pleasantly surprised at how well it came out. The second one will have to wait until spring.
They are both Canadian, made by Otis Elevator in 1944.
In the pic below you can see the Royal Cypher. These are supposed to be scrubbed off the barrels when they are disposed of, as they represent the RCA colors. At this point, I now have 3 barrels with the Cypher.
Below, you can see the two types of muzzle cones. There was the fabricated type (the bent one) and the heavier cast type.
