1943 Long Branch No.4 Mk1/3. Still has the military store label attached and has not been shot by the previous owner, who has had the rifle since it came into the US. This will go nicely with my 1941 and NZ-marked 1942 Long Branches. Now to find a South African-marked 1944 Long Branch...

That is a very clean Argentine M91. I see from the screw in front of the mag it is one of the earlier rifles.

Did they do a good job grinding off the crest? some were just butchered, others were almost invisible.

Those rifles came into the country in many variable conditions. Everything from new in the wrap to junk. I've seen some very nice sporters made up on them. The 7.65 cartridge is in the same power range as the 308Win.

In good interior condition, they can be real tack drivers with .311 bullets.

A lot of people call the 7.7 Jap a "Japanese 303". Close but I honestly think the Japanese were far more impressed with the qualities of the 7.65x53 cartridge than the rimmed 303 Brit and came very close to copying it.

actually, I will get the rifle next wednesday only...

to judge by the serial number, it was manufactured in 1901.

WaffenMitUns, I've never owned one of those but I have had the opportunity to inspect and handle a few.

They are certainly well made and well balanced pistols. They are also very accurate as long as they are in decent condition and have good bores. The pistols I had a chance to shoot were being loaded with Winchester 9x23 cases. I have no idea if it had to be modified or not. It was certainly loaded to safe specs as the owners were both very astute and professional about such things.

Nice looking pistol. They came in varying condition. The Austrian offerings were usually very good. Some of the South American offerings were fair only. Is your Chilean as good on the inside as it looks on the outside? It's hard to tell from your pics, has it been refinished?

The two Austrian pistols I am familiar with, had finishes that would compare to very decent commercial finishes.

Just received this Remington New Model Army from Joe Salter. Certainly not the nicest condition gun I own, but I've been wanting a Civil War revolver to go with my rifles and it was original, functional and price right so I jumped on it. The lockup is tight, the hammer spring very strong and the bore is surprisingly good so I suspect it could even be shot.

It's hard to get an idea of just how big these old cap & ball .44s are just from the picture, but this is very large, nasty pistol comparable to a S&W N frame in size and a fair bit heavier.

I imagine Austrian military ones would have better pickings since they were manufactured in the hundreds of thousands while Chilean contract only had five thousand made. Overall I think mine is in good original condition, mechanically sound, and no obvious anomalies. The bore looks bright and promising.

If I have the time I will try to knock the semi-rim off of some .38 Super and create some moderate 115gr loads using 9x19mm data...
