hey i just got my hunter pal in the middle of summer and duck season has opened but still no ducks... my main proablem i think is i have no where to hunt ducks. I Live in aylmer its a lil town close to london. ive talked to a few differnt farmers but all the ponds that i did find are dead the good ones are allready taken and alot of people are just not willing to let me hunt their ponds. ive been to the calton swap but.. its more liek the calton field. so if anyone knows where around aylmer i could hunt ducks or if anyone has any advice on finding/getting permission to hunt ducks or is looking for another member in a duck hunting event drop a mesage or something duck season isnt gona lastforver :( and im super excited to get my first bird :)

Hey sawman,

Assuming your willing to drive I do know that a lot of duck hunters from out your way travel to Cooks Bay on Lake Simcoe to hunt ducks from a boat.

It would be a tough hike but I'm pretty sure its possible to get to the marsh shores on Cooks by foot. You'd still need a way to retrieve the ducks if you dont have a dog however.

As well there is a lot of duck hunters on Lake Scugog which is a little further from you but you do need a boat to access the hunting areas.

Hope this helps in some way.

well im gona go the the ontario police collage tomrrow and hopefully ill bag me a goose :) wish my luck. its the first time iever ever gone hunting for goose! im so pumped i feel like its christmas

Sawman...if ever have a desire for the ultimate duck/goose hunt, come out to sask.......I'll show you enough ducks and geese to make you broke from buying ammo and your shoulder sore......invite is open to all!!

Aylmer is quit a ways from where I've hunted, but it looks to me as though you're rather blessed to be within a reasonable distance from Rondeau and Long Point Provincial Parks, with perhaps Hullet Marsh being worth a trip or two as well. You should be able to find details about these places online, and can ask for further info here or at the Huntontario.com forums. Of course you'll have to invest in a kayak or canoe, some decoys and other gear to take advantage of those places. In the meantime, best of luck on your goose hunt. Though it can also be fairly equipment intensive, you should be able to get two dozen shell decoys of geese for about $200, which is still within reason to purchase and carry to the field.

Cheers,

Frank
