Was at the range today and while scrounging in the MT brass bin I came across these. I have no idea how this could happen. If you look closely you can see the brass is bulged on just one side. There were around a dozen cases all shaped exactly the same. They are 9mm. Any ideas? I included a normal 9mm case to compare.

With a 38 case to compare.

I was at Red Deer Shooting Center a few months back and the one RO I was BSing with pulled a .40s&w brass case out of his pocket and handed it to me. Looked familiar to the above, but much more stretched out. Somebody had loaded the rental Ruger SR1911 mags up with .40... haha

He said that it was more of an off sounding.... "paahhh" and not a "pow" lol

That first timer got the talk about the importance of ensuring you have the right caliber for the right firearm a second time.

Almost looks like they tried to fire 9mm out of a 40 S&W.

That was my first thought as well but I didn't think a 9 would fit tight enough for the firing pin to strike the primer hard enough for ignition. If this is the case the guy fired at least 2 mags worth. You think he would have noticed when he picked up the brass.

I watched the video and that is definitely what happened, the cases look identical to the ones I found. In the video though the Glock didn't cycle whereas it looks like whoever fired the rounds at the club was able to finish a whole mag. TC

I witnessed a situation where a club member came off the range to complain to a staffer about the crappy ammo they sold him. He was complaining about the poor results and failures being experienced. The clerk looked at the ammo and asked to see the gun. Funniest thing I heard was the clerk saying to the 'member' "Sir, do you realize your gun is chambered for 40SW and you are using 9mm ammunition. We sold you what you asked for".. Some people just don't get it...
