Hi folks, Locally found this sporter .303, Parker Hale; got it for the stock set, but the gun is actually in decent shape. Missing the front sight hood, has a home made butt plate; and I wonder if the removed charger bridge is a home job too?

Extra points if you can help with this second one:

Anyone knows if the drilled and tapped holes are for a factory scope mount, if so, which one?

Sorry for the less-than-clear pictures, I'll try to post daylight pics when there's daylight :)

Very similar holes in my AGP LM, Lou.

Would not be surprised if the same mount did not fit.

AGP did NOT do the holes in mine, though! Yours looks to be factory.

Very nice specimen.

Lou, when will you learn? You know that these things are just like rabbits. First you get one. Then a second. You put them in the locker. You buy another. When you open the locker, there are a half dozen that you don't remember buying.

I have had to discipline myself to only buy No.4s. One and five are prime numbers. Four at least is divisible by two, and there was no No.2 rifle.

No. 2 Lee Enfield

Yes there is a No. 2 rifle: http://www.rifleman.org.uk/Enfield_Rifle_No.2_and_.22RF_Mk.III.html

Still a nice rifle. I have bought a few over the years also. But, now they have gained in price. I would try and restore it.

The right side of the stock isn't cut for the bridge, so I think it is safe to assume that PH removed the bridge.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll measure the spacing between the scope mounting holes, I'd like to be able to hunt down the proper mount :)

I have the proper Parker Hale A27 mount and rings for that gun. I just need the gun to mount it on. Presently its on a sportered BSA. but its begging to move to a proper Custom Parker Hale. :) :)

Hi again folks,

I finally took the time to mount the scope mount which I got from a fine CGN member.

But now my hunt for the right Parker Hale scope rings is proving to be difficult. Just missed a set on Ebay, I am kicking myself in the head for that. (Not really, I can't reach my head with either of my feet, but you get the idea).

Anyone would have a lead on a pair of these? I tried my best with Google, to no avail.

xcaribooer is the first person I would ask about Parker Hale for Lee Enfield. I couldn't say he is likely to be selling any such parts, but he seems to know them quite well.

Lou, I have the same rifle. Mine was an inheritance from my dear old dad. He bought it in '68 in Campbell River BC. The charger bridge was removed on mine also, and from how it looks, I believe PH did that in house. Dad had a scope mounted on it, and at the time I imagine the PH mounts were very common.

The mount has "Parker Hale" stamped in it with a #. It utilizes the same holes that you have on yours.

Nice rifle you have there.
