Now the head scratchers - cone shaped case

This is a puzzler. There is no rim, no head, no markings, only a conical body and a massively crimped lead bullet.

The cartridge collectors' websites refer to this as a separate primed case, which would be fired with a percussion cap. Probably aimed at the pointy end of the case, but there is a distinct depression there that looks like a large diameter firing pin strike.
